Maine Electrical License Courses

R. G. Portwine Ph.D. Electrical Licensing License Course Course Assignments

This Page is Designed for an Introduction to the Courses

The courses required for a Limited Energy Electrical License are as follows:

Electricity I, Electricity II, Electronics, Controls, Blueprint Reading and Current Electrical Code

Each of these courses has the requirement that they contain 45 Hours of work. The work can include classroom instruction, web-based instruction, examination and reasearch. We will use all of these methods for instruction in this course.

When the courses are completed it is required that you take the Electrical Examination form the State. The last course in the series should be the Electrical code course that covers the NEC (National Electrical Code). All the other requirements can be found on the state License WebSite.

BRING YOUR CALCULATOR TO EVERY CLASS

It will be important to keep up with the work that I give on the web-site because I plan to change the site as we move through the assignments. These assignments may change weekly, so it is important to keep up with the class.

I include software for most classes.

I have included software on the drives I have handed out. They are titled M1, M2, M3 and M4. We will be working with M1 for the first two courses. The information will be helpful and in addition to the Text readings. I will, from time to time give you an examination that deal with the software, so become familar with it.

Good Luck on the Exams

I helped this gentleman with his formula

I use a software package for each class to work along with the textbooks. This software is an excellent addition to the course to help students understand the theory that is covered.

On-line classes will begin in the fall of 08

I will begin teaching on line in the winter of 2011. Most classes will take between 7 and 10 weeks to complete. So you can finish your class requirements for a License in less than a year. I can individualize the classes. The work will be done by e-mail or fax with the examinations being sent back to me by e-mail.

E-mail for more information.
